Plan the family decision with real numbers and dates

A parent can support the student by testing whether a program fits the family's budget and calendar, while leaving subject choices and personal writing with the applicant. These guides provide worksheets for the two questions that are easy to postpone: total cost and funding eligibility.

What to discuss together

Agree on an approximate affordability range and whether it assumes financial aid. Ask the student what makes each program academically worthwhile. Put deadlines for tests, references, university applications and funding forms on one calendar. Revisit the budget when a real offer arrives; the advertised tuition and the actual family contribution may differ.

Use institutional sources for current fees and aid rules. An offer of admission does not itself guarantee funding or any other approval.

Bring your questions

Tell us the student's interests, degree level, possible countries, entry year and the financial questions the family wants to resolve.
